GIL CENTENO

VOCALIST

Gil Centeno, seems to impress everyone with his stage presence, and, his voice quality which is both smooth, and resonant. When one listens to Gil sing any of the crooning type ballads it will surely conjure up memories of Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, and Nat 'King' Cole.

Gil’s rendition of classics like ‘Sentimental Journey’, ‘Unchained Melody’, ‘Smoke Gets in Your Eyes’, and ‘Chances Are’, will have you "sitting even closer to the one you are with", or, heading for the dance floor [if one is available], and when he sings swing songs like ‘All of Me’, 'I’ve Got the World on a String’ or the Ellington song ‘Don’t Get Around Much Anymore’, it will certainly take you back a few years.

Gil is a native of New York City but his family is from Bermuda, where he spent about six years at the age of twenty. He has performed in clubs such as 'Club Harlem', 'Showman's', 'The Red Rooster', and 'Diggs Den', in Manhattan; 'The Apollo Theatre', 'Small's Paradise', and 'Bell Book and Candle' in Harlem; and 'Sweet Basil', with Doc Cheetum, on 7th Avenue in the Village. In Bermuda, Gil sang at 'Flavors', 'King Henry VIII Restaurant', 'Captain Lounge', 'The Ram's Head', and 'The Flamingo Lounge'. He also performed on 'The Royal Caribbean' cruise ship 'Dreamward'.

Being a 'Leo', Gil is one of those people who never seems to be at a loss for words, so it's natural for he and Behr to share the responsibility of introducing the songs. He also comes up with new words for songs which sounds as if they had been written that way.
